LIBRARY EXPANSION IS ‘ON THE BOOKS’
The Spring Hill Board of Mayor and Aldermen has approved funds for the expansion of the library, and groundbreaking should occur before the summer is over. The expansion will extend the building on the east side, and increase square footage from the current 7,000 square feet to 16,000 square feet.
The additional space will allow for more room in all areas: children’s library, juvenile and young adults, staff work area, meeting area, and especially the book collection area. That space will be almost exactly double. Remodeling of the existing structure’s interior will make the layout more efficient.
STORY
TIME RESUMES JULY 20TH
The Story Time at the Spring Hill Library will resume on Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning July 20, 2005. Story Time is each Wednesday and Thursday, 10:15 a.m. at the library.
While it is geared primarily for pre-school, older children are welcome to attend. The program regularly consists of reading of several "Easy" books to the children, and a simple handicraft.
We ask that you call or sign up at the library prior to the program, to allow us to have sufficient materials for the craft project. If you forget to sign-up, you're still welcome to come.
During June and July we have a 6-week hiatus for Story Time while the Summer Reading Program is in progress. The SRP is a 6-week long program to help children retain their reading skills during the summer. We encourage the children to read by offering small rewards for the number of books they have read.
